Using the Trac App

Automation

Overview#

Letting Trac do repetitive work for you: automation rules that react to your data, and custom commands that tailor how you instruct the app.

  • Automation Rules

Automation Rules let you set up rules that change your data for you. A rule watches for records that match the conditions you choose, and when one matches, it automatically applies the actions you set — like assigning a tax treatment, filing something to a Chart of Accounts account, or adding a tag. Once a rule is in place, Trac runs it as your data is created or updated, so you don’t have to make the same edit over and over by hand.

  • Custom Commands

Custom Commands (also called custom skills) are reusable instructions you write once and then hand to Traci, the in-app AI assistant, with a single pick. Each command bundles a name, an optional description, and a block of instructions. When you run a command in chat, those instructions are added to Traci’s context for that message, so you don’t have to retype the same guidance (“focus on tax implications”, “draft this as a board update”, and so on) every time.
