The Navigator is a browsing tool for working through your portfolio by structure rather than by searching. It organizes your holdings into expandable folders so you can drill down — by owner, by tag, or by saved view — and open the exact holding, owner, or view you’re after.

You reach the Navigator from the Navigator tab (the tree icon) in the main navigation bar. It’s the structured counterpart to Search, which is text-based discovery — use the Navigator when you want to explore the shape of your portfolio and Search when you already know what you’re looking for.

Pick how to browse#

Near the top of the screen are three tabs that change how your portfolio is grouped. The Navigator opens on Owners by default:

  • Owners — your holdings grouped by the owner (person, trust, LLC, account) that holds them. Owners that sit under other owners nest into folders. A separate Items with No Owners section collects any holdings that aren’t attached to an owner.
  • Tags — your holdings grouped by tag. Tags that use a / separator (for example Category/Equities) become nested folders; tags with no path sit at the top level.
  • Views — your saved portfolio views, grouped into folders. Views you haven’t filed into a folder appear under Default, and each view shows pills describing the filters it applies.

Switching tabs collapses everything and starts you at the top of the new hierarchy.

Drill through the folders#

Each section is a set of expandable folders:

  • Tap a folder to expand it and reveal the owners, tags, or views inside, along with the holdings that belong there.
  • Tap it again to collapse it (and everything beneath it).
  • Holdings appear as cards inside an expanded folder. Tap a holding to open its detail page.

Folders that have nothing inside aren’t expandable; the Navigator lets you know when there’s nothing to drill into.

Jump to a filtered view#

Every owner, tag, and view has an arrow on the right. Tapping it doesn’t just expand the folder — it takes you to a filtered portfolio view of everything inside:

  • Owner arrow — opens a portfolio view filtered to that owner’s holdings.
  • Tag arrow — opens a portfolio view filtered to that tag.
  • View arrow — opens that saved portfolio view.

This is the quick way to go from “browsing the structure” to “looking at the actual holdings” for any branch.

Search within the hierarchy#

The search box at the top filters the current section as you type, with a placeholder that tells you what you’re searching (owners, tags, or views). While a search is active, the section tabs hide to give the results more room.

  • Matching folders stay expandable, so you can keep drilling within the results.
  • Matching holdings appear as cards you can open directly.
  • For owners, search looks across the name, parent, description, and account number.
  • Clear the search to return to the full hierarchy.

Show or hide values#

By default the Navigator shows the structure without monetary amounts. Tap Show Values to display a total next to each folder and holding; the button then reads Hide Values so you can switch the amounts off again.

The value shown on a folder is a rolled-up total — it includes everything nested inside that folder, not just its direct items.

See closed items#

Closed holdings are hidden by default so your folders stay focused on what’s active. When a folder also contains closed items, it shows a Show Closed (N) button:

  • Tap it to switch that folder to show only its closed items.
  • The button then reads Show Open to switch back.

Each folder remembers this on its own, so you can open closed items in one place without changing the rest of the hierarchy.

Extras#

  • Add a view. On the Views tab, an Add button lets you create a new saved portfolio view.
  • Tree View. On the web, the Owners tab offers a Tree View button that opens a dedicated tree visualization of your owners.
